Hospital Information System

A hospital information system (HIS), variously also called clinical information system (CIS) is a comprehensive, integrated information system designed to manage the administrative, financial and clinical aspects of a hospital. This encompasses paper-based information processing as well as data processing machines.

HIS covers all aspects of hospital management and clinical application, providing a complete tool for the hospital management and clinical application, which frees the medical staff from the heavy work load and improves the work efficiency of the hospital.

HIS focuses on both hospital management information and clinical information. It is also a use-friendly interface, easy for integration with the products of the third party; high flexibility; provides second development platform; realizes information sharing, data sharing, and seamless connection among every subsystems, and the result can be acquired immediately after the examination, and provides interface for connecting to the Hospital Insurance System, Community Medical System and Remote Hospital System.

No hospital information system can be regarded as a success unless it has the full participation of its users. Thus human and social factors would have to be considered in its design, more often than not, they can be easily addressed by providing adequate training and education about the system.

What is Telenursing?

Need a doctor?
Are you ill and not sure what to do?
Is your child ill and you need assistance?
Call Telenurse!
Telenursing refers to the use of telecommunication and information technology for providing nursing services in health care whenever a large physical distance exists between patient and nurse, or between any number of nurses. As a field it is part of telehealth, and has many points of contacts with other medical and non-medical applications, such as telediagnosis, teleconsultation, telemonitoring, etc.
What are the advantages of telenursing?
  • Telenursing may help solve increasing shortages of nurses;
  •  To reduce distances and save travel time;
  • To keep patients out of hospital.
As a healthcare provider,  this program is very important because we can extend our services to the outpatient. In our country, majority of the hospitals has not yet implemented this program though there are some of the institutions who already started this program. An example of the institution who used this program is the Capitol University Medical Center; for instance, you are about to administer a drug to your patient but unfortunately, he/she has no stock with that specific drug. Instead of telling the watcher to buy the drug in the pharmacy which is very hassle, you, as an NOD  can order the drug directly to the pharmacy using the computer.

Reaction: "Warriors of the Net"

"For the first time in history people and machinery are working together, realizing a dream. A uniting force that knows no geographical boundaries. Without regard to race, creed or color. A new era where communication truly brings people together."
-Tomas Stephanson, Monte Reid

The movie "Warriors of the Net" is an example of an educational tool that guide us in understanding how the Internet works. Though I already know how to connect myself in the different websites it is amazing to know how the internet works especially in processing my personal activities in its respective websites.

To give you an overview about this film, here are some of the the characters who plays an important role in this film.

 Transmission Control Protocol

TCP is a transport layer protocol used by applications that require guaranteed delivery. It is a sliding window protocol that provides handling for both timeouts and retransmissions.

    User Datagram Protocol

UDP network traffic is organized in the form of datagrams. A datagram comprises one message unit. The first eight (8) bytes of a datagram contain header information and the remaining bytes contain message data.
       Ping of Death
A flaw in the implementation of networking in some operating systems became well-known and popularized by hackers as a way to crash computers remotely over the Internet.

    Router
A hardware device designed to take incoming packets, analyzing the packets and then directing them to the appropriate locations, moving the packets to another network, converting the packets to be moved across a different network interface, dropping the packets, or performing any other number of other actions.

I hope that you've also learned something on how internet works through this very brief reaction and overview.

    Application Software: Microsoft PowerPoint

    What is Microsoft PowerPoint?

PowerPoint is a presentation program developed by Microsoft. It is included in the standard Office suite along with Microsoft Word and Excel. The software allows users to create anything from basic slide shows to complex presentations.

PowerPoint is a presentation software package. With PowerPoint, you can easily create slide shows. PowerPoint is often used to create business presentations, but can also be used for educational or informal purposes.

What are the Benefits of PowerPoint?

    1. Bring more energy and visual impact to your presentations.
    2. Work with others without having to wait your turn.
    3. Add a personalized video experience
    4. Imagine just-in-time show and tell.
    5. Access your presentations from more locations and on more devices.
    6. Create high-quality presentations with stunning graphics.
    7. Captivate your audience with new transitions and improved animations.
    8. Organize and print your slides more effectively.
    9. Get things done faster.
    10. Work on multiple presentations and multiple monitors.

Problems With Custom Animation in PowerPoint

Once presenters begin using animation in their slides, they often get carried away incorporating excessive and extravagant animation. Although this may make creating the presentation more fun, the audience may find it annoyingly distracting. In addition, due to the resolution differences between the computer screen and the projector, animations usually will look better on the computer than they will look during the presentation. Rather than incorporating extravagant animations, make sure you have a rhetorical purpose behind the animation. For example, you can use animations to coordinate the text with your presentation.

The presentations are comprised of slides, which may contain text, images, and other media, such as audio clips and movies. Sound effects and animated transitions can also be included to add extra appeal to the presentation. However, overusing sound effects and transitions will probably do more to annoy your audience than draw their attention.
